Search engine optimisation
What you can do outside Thril so people searching for your sport find your venue, and your Thril page, first.
When someone searches for "padel Lohja" or "gym near me", they usually pick one of the first few results. This guide shows the simple, free things you can do so that result is you. Nothing here needs technical skills.
How Google picks local results
Google decides which local businesses to show using three things (Google: How to improve your local ranking):
- Relevance: how well your information matches what the person searched for.
- Distance: how close you are to the person searching.
- Prominence: how well known you are. Links to you from other websites and your number of reviews count here.
You can't pay Google for a better place in these results. You can only give Google good, consistent information and give people reasons to talk about you.
Why this also helps your Thril page
Your Thril page (for example https://app.thril.fi/venue/your-venue) is a public page that search engines can read. Everything in this guide makes your venue more known, and a more known venue gets more visitors to its Thril page, where people book.
Two things connect the two directly:
- Link to your Thril page from your Google Business Profile, your website and your social media. Every link sends people straight to booking.
- Your short bio in Thril is the description of your Thril page, which search engines often show under the result. Your cover image is shown when the page link is shared. See Branding.
Why isn't my venue listed under Thril's search result?
The extra links Google sometimes shows under a search result are chosen automatically by Google. Nobody can buy or pick them, and they can differ from person to person (Google: Sitelinks). The steps in this guide are the best way to make your own venue better known.
Start here: the 30-minute checklist
- Claim and complete your Google Business Profile, and add your Thril page as the booking link.
- Check that your name, address and phone number are written the same way everywhere.
- Write a clear short bio in Thril: what you offer, and where.
- Ask five happy customers for a Google review this week. See Reviews.
- Add a link to your Thril page on your website and in your social media bios.
After that, read the rest at your own pace:
