Stripe

Stripe powers all payments in Thril, providing secure processing, payout tracking, and subscription management for your venue.

πŸ”— How Stripe Works with Thril

All payments made by your customers through Thril are processed by Stripe. This includes bookings, shared payments, product purchases, and more. Once collected, funds are grouped and paid out to your linked Stripe account on a regular schedule.

You’ll always have full visibility into each payment, payout, and reconciliation status.

πŸ”‘ Setting Up Stripe

Stripe verification must be completed before you can start using Thril. Until verification is done, a banner is shown at the top of the portal. Once the verification is accepted, the banner disappears and your venue is ready to go live.

Stripe reviews submitted information, which can take up to 24 hours. To complete verification you will need the account holder's details and the company owner's details. Depending on the case, Stripe may also request a document from the business register (such as an invoice) and a government-issued photo ID.

🧾 View and Track Payouts

You can view all Stripe payouts in Settings > Stripe. Each payout shows:

  • Payout ID for tracking
  • Total amount transferred
  • Status (e.g. Paid)
  • Reconciliation status so you know everything matches
  • Automatic flag if payouts are triggered automatically
  • Arrival date of funds to your bank

When you request a Stripe payout report by email (receipt icon on a payout row), you can choose Report scope: Generate full report for company or Generate report for current venue, so the attachment matches how you account for that payout.

πŸ’Ά What a payout deducts

A payout is your customers' card payments minus these:

  • Thril's commission comes off each payment. For a company in Finland the commission includes 25.5 % VAT, so the VAT in a commission is the commission Γ— 25.5 / 125.5.
  • Refunds made since the last payout are deducted. The commission on a refunded payment comes back to you with the refund.
  • A Thril subscription payment taken from your Stripe balance shows as its own line in the payout report.

Product VAT is not deducted. The payout includes the full price your customer paid, VAT included, and you report and pay that VAT through your own bookkeeping.

Matching a payout to your bank

The Stripe payout report lists exactly the transactions Stripe put into that payout, so its total matches your bank statement. For each type of payment it shows:

  • the gross amount including VAT
  • the commission with and without VAT
  • the VAT
  • the net amount, which is the gross minus the commission

It also breaks the sales VAT down by rate.

The payments CSV is not a payout

Export payments on the Payments page sends a CSV with one row per payment. Read its columns this way:

  • amount is what the customer paid, VAT included.
  • tax_amount is the VAT in it.
  • application_fee_amount is Thril's commission, VAT included.
  • net_amount is amount βˆ’ tax_amount βˆ’ application_fee_amount, your sales without VAT after commission. It is not what was paid out.

The amount paid out for one payment is amount βˆ’ application_fee_amount. The CSV picks payments by the day they succeeded, not by payout, so a month's CSV does not add up to that month's payouts. Use the payout report to reconcile your bank account.
